Chiloe foi um dos convidados da minha Jam da Vizinhança, na qual deu uma resposta à altura ao desafio que lhe foi lançado.
O writer francês faz parte dos MAV (Middle Aged Vandals) e é pela Região Saloia que gosta de espalhar o seu lettering, sobretudo com o seu parceiro Liriq.
Apesar do seu estilo ainda estar a dar os primeiros passos, Chiloe está pronto para os desafios que apareçam.
Aqui têm a sua entrevista.
Qual é o significado do teu tag?
É um lugar no mundo de onde tenho grandes recordações e que me permite recordar essas emoções.
Tens formação em arte?
Nenhuma, embora tivesse gostado de o fazer. Lembro-me de fazer um teste de desenho para estudos de design industrial - foi um desastre!
Quando começou o teu interesse pelo graffiti e quais foram as tuas influências na altura?
Quando tinha cerca de 13 / 14 anos, costumava ir a uma associação local chamada "Le club des jeunes" e um writer veio e explicou-nos como trabalhar com a nossa tag. Ainda hoje sou capaz de fazer a versão final que desenhei durante esse workshop. Olhando para trás, acho que isso plantou uma semente na minha mente.
Também andei muito de skate e bmx, culturas muito próximas da cena do graffiti, e devorava todas as revistas da altura, por isso sempre vi graffiti, mas esperei muito tempo antes de dar o mergulho!
Qual é a tua opinião sobre o graff tuga? O que achas que pode melhorar?
Não tenho a pretensão de saber muito sobre a cena do graff em Portugal, embora tente estar o mais informado possível (e, nesse sentido, o teu trabalho é realmente fundamental).
Mas tenho a impressão de que é uma cena muito dinâmica, com muitos artistas incríveis e muitas influências diferentes, e que ainda se vai desenvolver muito.
Pertences a alguma crew?
O Liriq e eu formámos uma crew chamada MAV, para Middle Aged Vandals, e que nos representa bem. ;)
Como descreves o teu estilo?
É muito difícil definir o meu estilo, que ainda está a dar os primeiros passos. Tento encontrar o equilíbrio certo entre o resultado final e o prazer que sinto ao fazer a peça, o que é um elemento importante para mim, para além do resultado final.
Quais são os teus spots favoritos para pintar?
Lugares abandonados. Na zona onde estou, é possível encontrar locais no campo e isso é ainda mais fixe.
Preferes lettering ou characters?
Lettering, embora esteja a pensar trabalhar num ou dois elementos de assinatura que possam estar próximos das personagens.
Como é o teu processo criativo e onde vais buscar as inspirações para as tuas peças?
Tento desenhar o mais possível, pois sinto que quanto mais confortável me sinto com os meus sketches melhor pinto.
Quando se trata de inspiração, é difícil não mencionar o Instagram, onde se pode encontrar toda a inspiração que se possa imaginar, mas também tento não me deixar levar por isso. Sinto que entrei num processo de aprendizagem que requer repetição para adquirir um estilo. Tal como acontece com tantas coisas na vida, só depois de percebermos o que estamos a fazer é que podemos realmente dar o nosso próprio toque.
Pintas com sketch ou freestyle?
Sketch. A minha técnica e experiência ainda não são suficientemente boas para produzir freestyle decente.
O que toca na tua playlist quando pintas?
Não pinto com música, prefiro estar totalmente presente no momento, mas a música que ouço no carro antes de chegar ao spot influencia muito a minha sessão.
Normalmente é trip-hop, hip-hop / rap, electro ou jazz... depende do meu mood.
Quais são os ingredientes para um bom dia de pinturas?
Um bom sketch, tinta suficiente e, idealmente, o meu crew.
Qual é o melhor parceiro de pinturas?
O Liriq e a Bolota (a sua cadela), sem dúvida. E gostaria de aproveitar esta oportunidade para lhe agradecer, sem ele esta aventura não seria a mesma.
Qual é o teu top 3 de writers portugueses?
E de writers estrangeiros?
Com que outro writer gostarias de pintar uma peça conjunta?
De momento, estou a concentrar-me no meu progresso. Mas assim que estiver mais confiante estarei muito mais aberto a qualquer tipo de colaboração. (E, na verdade, se tivesse mais tempo, seria mais pró-ativo, porque é sempre muito gratificante ver outras pessoas a pintar).

São as que estão para vir!
Quais são os teus planos / projetos futuros?
Pinto há pouco tempo e não pinto tanto quanto gostaria, mas a ideia é continuar a progredir, continuar a cultivar esta prática que nos permite sair um pouco deste mundo.
Tens alguma história engraçada para partilhar?
O local onde comecei era uma padaria abandonada ao fundo da rua da minha casa. Há muitas casas à volta, por isso não era fácil ser discreto, mas era um sonho. Desde então, para meu grande desgosto, tornaram o acesso muito mais difícil.

Chiloe was one of the guests at my Jam da Vizinhança, in which he gave a worthy response to the challenge that was thrown at him.
The French writer is part of MAV (Middle Aged Vandals) and it is in the Região Saloia that he likes to spread his lettering, especially with his partner Liriq.
Although his style is still taking its first steps, the writer is ready for any challenges that arise.
Here is his interview.
What does your tag mean?
It's a place in the world where I have great memories and that allows me to remember those emotions.
Do you have training in art?
None, although I would have liked to do so. I remember taking a drawing test for industrial design studies - it was a disaster!
When did your interest in graffiti begin and what were your influences at the time?
When I was around 13/14 years old, I used to go to a local association called "Le club des jeunes" and a writer came and explained to us how to work with our tag. Even today I am able to make the final version that I drew during that workshop. Looking back, I think it planted a seed in my mind.
I also did a lot of skateboarding and BMX, cultures very close to the graffiti scene, and I devoured all the magazines at the time, so I always saw graffiti, but I waited a long time before taking the plunge!
What is your opinion about portuguese graff? What do you think can improve?
I don't claim to know much about the graff scene in Portugal, although I try to be as informed as possible (and, in that sense, your work is really fundamental).
But I have the impression that it is a very dynamic scene, with many incredible artists and many different influences, and that it will still develop a lot.
Do you belong to a crew?
Liriq and I formed a crew called MAV, for Middle Aged Vandals, and that represents us well ;)
How do you describe your style?
It's very difficult to define my style, which is still taking its first steps. I try to find the right balance between the final result and the pleasure I feel when making the piece, which is an important element for me, in addition to the final result.
What are your favorite spots to paint?
Abandoned places. In the area where I am, you can find places in the countryside and that is even cooler.
Do you prefer lettering or characters?
Lettering, although I'm thinking of working on one or two signature elements that might be close to the characters.
What is your creative process like and where do you get inspiration for your pieces?
I try to draw as much as possible, as I feel that the more comfortable I feel with my sketches, the better I paint.
When it comes to inspiration, it's hard not to mention Instagram, where you can find all the inspiration you can imagine, but I also try not to get carried away by it. I feel like I have entered a learning process that requires repetition to acquire a style. As with so many things in life, only once we understand what we're doing can we really put our own spin on it.
Do you paint with sketch or freestyle?
Sketch. My technique and experience are not yet good enough to produce decent freestyle.
What plays on your playlist when you paint?
I don't paint with music, I prefer to be fully present in the moment, but the music I listen to in the car before arriving at the spot greatly influences my session. Usually it's trip-hop, hip-hop / rap, electro or jazz... it depends on my mood.
What are the ingredients for a good painting day?
A good sketch, enough ink and, ideally, my crew.
Who is the best painting partner?
Liriq and Bolota (his dog), without a doubt. And I would like to take this opportunity to thank him, without him this adventure would not be the same.
What is your top 3 of Portuguese writers?
And foreign writers?
Which other writer would you like to paint a joint piece with?
At the moment, I'm focusing on my progress. But once I'm more confident I'll be much more open to any kind of collaboration. (And, in fact, if I had more time, I would be more proactive, because it is always very rewarding to see other people painting).
What is your best piece?
These are the ones to come!
What are your future plans/projects?
I've been painting for a short time and I don't paint as much as I'd like, but the idea is to continue to progress, to continue to cultivate this practice that allows us to escape this world a little.
Do you have any funny stories to share?
The place where I started was an abandoned bakery down the street from my house. There are a lot of houses around, so it wasn't easy to be discreet, but it was a dream. Since then, much to my chagrin, they have made access much more difficult.
